Start where it matters. The Commanders took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Vidal. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The cost of the Braswell reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Jordan Morgan is a better player than slot 36 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Chris Braswell in pick No. 40, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 3 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marshawn Kneeland. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Matt Goncalves in the 102nd pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ben Sinnott in the 141st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Delmar Glaze slid further than he should have, and No. 181 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kimani Vidal in No. 223 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
