You build a draft on nights like this. Germie Bernard had no business being available in No. 107, and the Browns did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They are betting Proctor proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
D'Angelo Ponds in pick 54 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 70 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kaleb Proctor in the 98th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Germie Bernard all the way to Round 4, Pick 7, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Elijah Sarratt reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Daylen Everette at pick No. 114 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Jakobe Thomas in No. 146, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value with a capital V on Hezekiah Masses in Round 5, Pick 9, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Eric Rivers in pick No. 206 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Domani Jackson at pick 221 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, TJ Hall in the 248th overall pick, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
