The Steelers spent real capital to be 58 picks early on Keyshaun Elliott, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Green. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Zuhn III pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with safety, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Lee Hunter in the 53rd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: D'Angelo Ponds still on the board at pick 76. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Keylan Rutledge in slot 85, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Germie Bernard in pick No. 86, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
De'Zhaun Stribling in Round 4, Pick 21 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
They bypassed pressing needs at safety, edge rusher and other spots to take Trey Zuhn III, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Keyshaun Elliott in Round 5, Pick 21 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Taylen Green all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Jaren Kanak, who had no business lasting to the 237th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
