Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Browns spent pick 111 on Dametrious Crownover, a name the board had a full 32 spots lower.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Cameron.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and Germie Bernard was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 6. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They went early on Billy Schrauth in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dametrious Crownover at pick 111 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Kaytron Allen in pick No. 146, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Jaeden Roberts at No. 149 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Josh Cameron at slot 206 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Jimmy Rolder in Round 7, Pick 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in the 248th pick, with Diego Pavia worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
