New England Patriots

Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Gray: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Cedric Gray slide 43 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.29 · Pick 61 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 47
Patrick Paul at pick No. 61 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 54
Ja'Tavion Sanders slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.30 · Pick 93 · Jalen McMillan · WR · rank 77
A slide stopped in pick 93, with Jalen McMillan worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 98
Blake Fisher at Round 4, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 136
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Travis at the 136th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 148
Dylan Laube in slot 151 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
R5.28 · Pick 164 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 126
Somehow Johnny Dixon was still sitting there in No. 164, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 134
Cedric Gray in the 177th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 169
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joe Milton III in slot 181. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 207
They robbed the room for De'Corian Clark here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 216
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Kenny Logan Jr. graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.14 · Pick 234 · Isaiah Neyor · WR · rank 224
Isaiah Neyor is a better player than pick No. 234 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.27 · Pick 247 · Brevyn Spann-Ford · TE · rank 230
They let Brevyn Spann-Ford come to them and pounced at the 247th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
