The rest of the league had time to spare on Roger Rosengarten; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at No. 97. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They banked enough surplus on McCormick to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kool-Aid McKinstry. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 49 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy little value on Payton Wilson in pick 58, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Dominick Puni in the 88th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nice patience on Khyree Jackson, who had no business lasting to pick No. 93. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Roger Rosengarten at the 97th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ben Sinnott in pick No. 126 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Mason McCormick here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Curtis Jacobs in the 202nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They paid sticker price for Gabe Hall in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kimani Vidal in slot 245 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Trevin Wallace was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 35, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
