Minnesota Vikings

Nobody dealt better than the Vikings this weekend: B-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Vikings should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hart. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Jared Verse · DE-EDGE · rank 11
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 46
They took J.J. McCarthy at par in the 42nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 40
The board had Kamari Lassiter higher than Round 2, Pick 16, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 94
Cam Hart is a better player than pick 109 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 123
A clean, defensible pick in slot 130 with a little surplus value in McKinnley Jackson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 158
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallin Holker. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 147
A quiet steal in pick No. 156: Tykee Smith for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 168
Javion Cohen in No. 166 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Dillon Johnson · RB · rank 170
They read the board right and Dillon Johnson was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 4. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · Jha'Quan Jackson · WR · rank 178
Jha'Quan Jackson slipping to pick No. 190 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
