Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Treydan Stukes, the No. 72 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 99. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

In the 21st overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Keith Abney II is a better player than pick No. 53 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jake Golday in Round 3, Pick 21, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They will replay Treydan Stukes at pick 99 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
