Thirty-one other rooms let Chris Paul Jr. slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at pick 222. Highway robbery.
They will need Greene to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 20th overall pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot.
No edge and no loss on Alfred Collins in No. 64; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ajani Cornelius. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Rylie Mills in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Theo Wease Jr. in slot 208. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Chris Paul Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 222, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Garrett Greene in pick 255 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
