The rest of the league will want that one back. Cam Skattebo tumbling to the Dolphins in the 224th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They are betting Mesidor proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Tate Ratledge at the 13th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at pick 48 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
DeMonte Capehart at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Mason Taylor at par in No. 99, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Riley Leonard at the 115th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joshua Gray this early at pick No. 149. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Theo Wease Jr. in Round 5, Pick 19, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Akheem Mesidor at slot 231, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Seth McLaughlin at pick No. 251 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
