Somebody in the 132nd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Cam Skattebo, the No. 105 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Derrick Harmon slipping to Round 2, Pick 5 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Azareye'h Thomas at slot 58 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Andrew Mukuba in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Tez Johnson at pick 108 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Darius Alexander in pick No. 131 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cam Skattebo at the 132nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
