Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chiefs shredded theirs for Jeremy Flax. He came off 32 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Payton Wilson at par in slot 64, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and McKinnley Jackson was the payoff at pick No. 95. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Daijun Edwards in No. 133, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Cole Bishop in pick 158 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reasonable price with a little left over, LaDarius Henderson in the 172nd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jeremy Flax in slot 210, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Anthony Gould in the 250th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
