The Zion Logue selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 41 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Landing Liufau that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in the 70th pick with a little surplus value in Caelen Carson. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nice patience on Marist Liufau, who had no business lasting to pick 94. A need, and now a little less of one.
Matt Goncalves in No. 107 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Justin Eboigbe in the 131st overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Frank Gore Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in No. 171: LaDarius Henderson for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Curtis Jacobs at the 175th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Zion Logue in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Walter Rouse at pick 252 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
