Boards are made to be trusted, and the Browns shredded theirs for Dominic Zvada. He came off 54 spots early, and the room will hear about it. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. That Williams pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Bottom line, with Arvell Reese leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Arvell Reese at slot 22 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
In the 24th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Denzel Boston is a better player than pick No. 39 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Emmanuel Pregnon slipping to Round 2, Pick 23 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
They took Mike Washington Jr. at par in pick 70, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Antonio Williams in the 86th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ja'Kobi Lane in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Isaiah World in the 146th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Drew Allar at the 149th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ephesians Prysock at pick 204 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a wide receiver like Josh Cameron reach No. 206 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dominic Zvada. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
