The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The Bishop pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Ladd McConkey in the 34th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Jordan Morgan at par in Round 2, Pick 4, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Devontez Walker in pick No. 68; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Andru Phillips went about where he belonged in slot 100. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cole Bishop in the 137th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They let Marist Liufau come to them and pounced at No. 180. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Ro Torrence at Round 6, Pick 18 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Tylan Grable at slot 231 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
