Somebody in slot 34 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while JC Latham, the No. 15 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
They will replay JC Latham at No. 34 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
