You could see the war room lean forward. Oronde Gadsden II at pick 220 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Ashton Jeanty and all.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a running back like Ashton Jeanty reach slot 25 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Kamari Ramsey was still sitting there in pick 62, and they pounced on premier safety value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Jihaad Campbell at No. 89 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Dylan Fairchild still on the board at the 97th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A running back of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Oronde Gadsden II in Round 7, Pick 4 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
