The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Dylan Sampson, the No. 43 name on the board, in pick No. 105. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 28 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Jalon Walker slid further than he should have, and pick No. 38 is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They robbed the room for Malaki Starks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Dylan Sampson still on the board at the 105th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
