The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Danny Stutsman slide 88 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Royals left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get an anchor for the defensive front at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jalen Royals at the 49th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Tyler Warren was still sitting there in pick 76, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quinshon Judkins in the 148th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 173 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cam Skattebo in No. 186 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A slide stopped in slot 209, with Miles Frazier worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Deion Burks in pick 248 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
