Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Castles reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Magee.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at the 34th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ja'Lynn Polk at pick 68 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Khyree Jackson in the 104th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
McCallan Castles at Round 4, Pick 36 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked Michael Wiley enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordan Magee at slot 229. A minor itch, scratched.
