The war room fell hard for Jalen Coker, and it showed at pick No. 223: 36 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Vidal pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
The board had Terrion Arnold higher than the Round 2 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at No. 69, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in slot 106; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached into another round for Mason McCormick, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Joe Milton III at Round 6, Pick 8 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Jalen Coker in Round 7, Pick 3 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kimani Vidal at slot 256 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
