Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jihaad Campbell got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at the Round 6 slot. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a disruptor off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Fair-plus on Luther Burden III, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Colston Loveland in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Malaki Starks in No. 74 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Jihaad Campbell still on the board at pick 199. A minor itch, scratched.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 30 with a little surplus value in Jeffrey Bassa. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
