Thirty-one other rooms let Connor Lew slide, and the Bears were the ones holding the card at Round 4, Pick 11. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Randall reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sonny Styles in slot 25. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid a round early for Malachi Lawrence in the 57th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Antonio Williams at pick 62, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
They took Treydan Stukes at par in No. 89, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in pick No. 111, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Eli Raridon at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Zavion Thomas in the 239th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Robert Spears-Jennings at Round 7, Pick 25 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Adam Randall in No. 256 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
