Thirty-one other rooms let Ozzy Trapilo slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at pick No. 105. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Booker in pick No. 38 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jayden Higgins in No. 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Tai Felton in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Ozzy Trapilo still on the board at the 105th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
