The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Gabe Jacas, 50 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Put together, it is a D-.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
That Lacy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Mykel Williams at No. 26 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Elic Ayomanor a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Benjamin Morrison in the 127th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gabe Jacas well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Anthony Belton. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Kyren Lacy still on the board at slot 240. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
