Somebody took the Chargers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
The Dorlus value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 37th overall pick with a little surplus value in Ennis Rakestraw Jr.. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Payton Wilson at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They read the board right and Braden Fiske was the payoff at No. 62. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Brandon Dorlus here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Jamari Thrash went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Cedric Gray, who had no business lasting to the 139th pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Isaac Guerendo in No. 183 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Michael Barrett in pick No. 223. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A tidy little value on LaDarius Henderson in slot 248, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Josh Wallace went about where he belonged in the 249th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Evan Williams in Round 7, Pick 30 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let an offensive lineman like KT Leveston reach pick 256 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
