You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chargers took Braden Fiske at No. 238, roughly 44 spots before his name belonged.
The Moore pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback, quarterback and other spots. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Brandon Dorlus at pick 49 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, TreVeyon Henderson a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Rod Moore adds a defensive back while cornerback, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
They let Jalen McMillan come to them and pounced at pick No. 117. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ben Sinnott in Round 5, Pick 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
DeWayne Carter at slot 195 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
