Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kaleb Johnson got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 149. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Moore reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A real need, handled.
Tyleik Williams at slot 42 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Alfred Collins at Round 3, Pick 11 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Kaleb Johnson still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Rod Moore in the 170th overall pick says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had cheaper options than Gunnar Helm at the 171st pick, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to pick 186, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in the 209th overall pick, where Miles Frazier graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
