The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Knox proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels at the 3rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Jordan Morgan in No. 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Legette at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jalen McMillan at pick No. 104 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Nehemiah Pritchett at par in Round 4, Pick 36, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jase McClellan. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Trey Knox at pick 229, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
