The Bears spent real capital to be 47 picks early on Joey Aguilar, and the board is going to hold them to it.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Scott steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.9 · Pick 41 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 27
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dillon Thieneman at pick 41 is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Peter Woods · DT · rank 30
Peter Woods is a better player than the 42nd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Jacob Rodriguez · LB · rank 51
Fair-plus on Jacob Rodriguez, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 58
The board had Jake Slaughter higher than the Round 3 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Keionte Scott · CB · rank 63
The board fumbled Keionte Scott all the way to Round 3, Pick 25, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Sam Roush · TE · rank 93
Sam Roush in pick No. 94 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Kaleb Proctor · DL · rank 135
They took Kaleb Proctor at par in Round 4, Pick 29, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.11 · Pick 151 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 161
Beau Stephens at the 151st overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.28 · Pick 168 · Caleb Douglas · WR · rank 167
Caleb Douglas at slot 168 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.8 · Pick 189 · Zane Durant · DT · rank 185
Good price on Zane Durant in No. 189, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 247
They liked Xavier Nwankpa enough to skip the value, taking him in the 239th pick. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Joey Aguilar · QB · rank 288
They reached into another round for Joey Aguilar, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
