The Hykeem Williams selection is the head-turner. The Jets reached 42 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Spending an early pick on linebacker with quarterback and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense. More want than need.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Sonny Styles while clear needs at quarterback and running back sat open.
They went early on Caleb Banks in the 33rd pick, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had cheaper options than Germie Bernard at slot 44, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Farmer at pick 103 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Trey Moore at No. 140, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach on Ephesians Prysock in No. 179; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Xavier Nwankpa at Round 7, Pick 12 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Hykeem Williams this early at pick No. 242. It fills a real need, too.
