The Commanders put a flag in the ground for Trey Zuhn III, 50 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Put together, it is a D+.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hunter.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get a rangy last line of defense. Need was not the driver here.
They read the board right and Lee Hunter was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 1. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value with a capital V on Jake Golday in No. 71, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach on Nate Boerkircher in the 147th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Seth McGowan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 189 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in pick No. 209, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Miles Kitselman at Round 7, Pick 1 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let TJ Hall come to them and pounced at pick 223. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Isaiah Jatta, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
