The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cardinals reached some 38 spots for Dillon Gabriel, and value like that does not grow back.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 17th pick they get a blindside protector, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kenneth Grant at slot 48 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Dillon Gabriel at pick No. 79, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tory Horton in the Round 4 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Howard Cross III in No. 152 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
