When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jackson Woodard at Round 7, Pick 4, a reach of 108 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Landing Bech that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a lead back with juice. A real need, handled.
Aireontae Ersery at pick 38 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Donovan Jackson at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jack Bech at slot 77. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Emery Jones Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on Oronde Gadsden II at the 145th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Andrew Armstrong. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Jackson Woodard in No. 222 is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson this early at the 240th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
