Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Landing McGlothern that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Hunt has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Ladd McConkey in pick No. 34; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 4. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Matt Goncalves a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jalyx Hunt at the 137th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Tip Reiman at slot 180 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Dwight McGlothern at pick 193 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Caedan Wallace at No. 231 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
