When a board-topper like Phil Mafah slides to Round 7, Pick 1, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Nick Emmanwori and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 20
Nick Emmanwori at pick 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 36
Wyatt Milum in slot 38 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Elic Ayomanor · WR · rank 58
Nice patience on Elic Ayomanor, who had no business lasting to the 67th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 71
Omarr Norman-Lott in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Elijah Arroyo · TE · rank 75
No edge and no loss on Elijah Arroyo in No. 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 82
A quiet steal in the 94th pick: Donovan Jackson for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.4 · Pick 105 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 93
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Savion Williams in Round 4, Pick 4. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.6 · Pick 145 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 107
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 145 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.1 · Pick 219 · Phil Mafah · RB · rank 167
You do not let a running back like Phil Mafah reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.4 · Pick 222 · Jamon Dumas-Johnson · LB · rank 214
They let Jamon Dumas-Johnson come to them and pounced at No. 222. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.22 · Pick 240 · Clay Webb · OG · rank 243
Clay Webb at pick 240 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
