The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Treydan Stukes slide 25 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Allar has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a long-term starter on the line. Need was not the driver here.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Anthony Hill Jr. at slot 53. The roster fit checks out.
Antonio Williams slipping to the 76th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Domonique Orange, who had no business lasting to the 85th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in pick No. 99: Skyler Bell for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Treydan Stukes in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Drew Allar in No. 135 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zxavian Harris in Round 5, Pick 21. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Riley Nowakowski in pick 216 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Jimmy Rolder in the 224th pick, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Nwokobia at the 230th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Eli Heidenreich in No. 237, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
