Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Falcons spent Round 7, Pick 15 on Wesley Williams, a name the board had a full 82 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 16 is lovely value for the linebacker. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Germie Bernard at pick No. 84 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Treydan Stukes in No. 114 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Value with a capital V on Kaytron Allen in the 160th pick, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They let Kobe Baynes come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had VJ Payne higher than slot 200, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
