The Falcons checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Falcons spent Round 7, Pick 15 on Wesley Williams, a name the board had a full 82 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.16 · Pick 48 · Anthony Hill Jr. · LB · rank 38
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 16 is lovely value for the linebacker. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Germie Bernard · WR · rank 59
Steal is underselling it; Germie Bernard at pick No. 84 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 93
Taking Treydan Stukes in No. 114 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Kaytron Allen · RB · rank 143
Value with a capital V on Kaytron Allen in the 160th pick, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.16 · Pick 197 · Kobe Baynes · OG · rank 188
They let Kobe Baynes come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.19 · Pick 200 · VJ Payne · S · rank 190
The board had VJ Payne higher than slot 200, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.15 · Pick 231 · Wesley Williams · DE-EDGE · rank 313
This one needs a full-page explanation: Wesley Williams in pick 231, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
