Thirty-one other rooms let Trey Benson slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at the 129th pick. Highway robbery. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Bullard proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Javon Bullard at slot 47 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Khyree Jackson at the 107th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Trey Benson in pick 129 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Tommy Eichenberg at pick No. 141 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No drama and no debate, Jarrian Jones went about where he belonged in No. 146. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Luke McCaffrey at the 183rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
