Thirty-one other rooms let Terrance Ferguson slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at Round 7, Pick 1. Highway robbery. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren in slot 38 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 5, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A slide stopped in the 77th pick, with Andrew Mukuba worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Jared Wilson at No. 145 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Steal is underselling it; Terrance Ferguson at pick 219 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Upton Stout in pick No. 222 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Ollie Gordon II at the 240th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
