The Jaheim Bell pick is the one that will follow the Commanders into the fall. They took him 34 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Estime pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Landon Dickerson leading the way.
In the end it comes back to Bralen Trice, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a disruptor off the edge. A real need, handled.
Graham Barton at the 40th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Jonah Elliss went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Johnny Wilson in the 67th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Jaheim Bell in pick 100, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Blake Fisher in slot 102, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Audric Estime at pick No. 115 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Isaiah Williams at pick 200 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steele Chambers in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
