The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Giants reached some 52 spots for Keagen Trost, and value like that does not grow back.
Wheatley falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
They did well to land Omar Cooper Jr. in the 37th pick, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Zakee Wheatley at pick 105 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Keagen Trost, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Skyler Gill-Howard in Round 5, Pick 5 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Josh Cameron at slot 186 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kobe Baynes at the 192nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Bobby Jamison-Travis at No. 193, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
