You can hear the double-takes from here. The Raiders took Dominic Zvada at No. 219, roughly 82 spots before his name belonged.

Everything downstream of Fernando Mendoza depends on Fernando Mendoza, and the building knows it. Fields at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.1 · Pick 1 · Fernando Mendoza · QB · rank 4
Fernando Mendoza at pick No. 1 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · CJ Allen · LB · rank 31
Fair-plus on CJ Allen, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 47
Steal is underselling it; D'Angelo Ponds at the 67th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Malachi Fields · WR · rank 73
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 102 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Bryce Lance · WR · rank 90
Bryce Lance at Round 4, Pick 17 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 139
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.C. Davis. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.35 · Pick 175 · Aamil Wagner · OT · rank 173
A straight-up fair deal on Aamil Wagner at Round 5, Pick 35, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.4 · Pick 185 · Ar'maj Reed-Adams · OG · rank 171
They let Ar'maj Reed-Adams come to them and pounced at pick No. 185. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.27 · Pick 208 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 190
Ephesians Prysock in the 208th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.3 · Pick 219 · Dominic Zvada · PK · rank 301
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dominic Zvada in the Round 7 slot, miles early. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
