After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is McGlothern. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Travis has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A quiet steal in pick 44: Tyler Guyton for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good price on Xavier Legette in the 77th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Khyree Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Jordan Travis at pick No. 147 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a cornerback like Dwight McGlothern reach slot 210 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Garret Greenfield at the 221st pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tyrice Knight in No. 225 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Frank Gore Jr. at pick 227 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
