When a board-topper like Anthony Hill Jr. slides to the 61st overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Rams did not. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th pick they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Peter Woods at Round 2, Pick 8 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Anthony Hill Jr. at No. 61 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
They robbed the room for Gennings Dunker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Michael Taaffe in slot 93, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cole Payton is a better player than pick No. 210 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Chase Roberts, who had no business lasting to the 232nd overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Miles Kitselman graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Thaddeus Dixon at No. 251 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Robert Spears-Jennings slid further than he should have, and the 252nd overall pick is lovely value for the safety. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
