A franchise passer in Maye headlines a B weekend for the Patriots.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Byron Murphy II tumbling to the Patriots in pick 137 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 7
They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in the 4th overall pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R1.19 · Pick 19 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 8
In pick No. 19 they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 18
In the 27th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, outstanding value to boot.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Ja'Lynn Polk · WR · rank 66
A straight-up fair deal on Ja'Lynn Polk at pick 68, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 102
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sinnott at pick No. 103 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 19
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 137th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.5 · Pick 180 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 135
The board fumbled Caedan Wallace all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.18 · Pick 193 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 149
Tykee Smith in Round 6, Pick 18 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
