Somebody in the 47th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cardinals sat still while Jalon Walker, the No. 20 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Trapilo reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value.
Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 15 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Ozzy Trapilo in pick No. 78; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Shemar Turner in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Fair-plus on Jackson Slater, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
