You could see the war room lean forward. Connor Lew at the Round 4 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Prysock pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Dillon Thieneman in the 42nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Germie Bernard at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Connor Lew in slot 121 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Value said wait; Aamil Wagner in pick 152 says they were not listening. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ephesians Prysock. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Nate Boerkircher went about where he belonged in pick No. 162. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Sawyer Robertson is a better player than No. 216 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
