Some picks age like wine; Aamil Wagner at No. 135 will need to, sitting 36 spots clear of his grade. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Landing Kilgore that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while running back went begging.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Makai Lemon at the 21st overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Dillon Thieneman in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Jake Golday was the payoff at the 76th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Domonique Orange come to them and pounced at pick No. 92. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 99 with a little surplus value in Brenen Thompson. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jalon Kilgore at Round 4, Pick 21 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kage Casey at Round 4, Pick 30 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Aamil Wagner in the Round 4 slot leaves running back for later.
A straight-up fair deal on Nate Boerkircher at the 161st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ephesians Prysock in pick 180 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sawyer Robertson in slot 216. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Keyshaun Elliott, who had no business lasting to the 230th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Robert Spears-Jennings, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
