Laumea should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a B.

Call it larceny. Sataoa Laumea sat on the board until the 173rd pick, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
T'Vondre Sweat in the 64th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Javon Baker · WR · rank 91
Javon Baker at pick 95 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Josh Newton · CB · rank 122
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josh Newton at No. 132. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 149
Justin Eboigbe at the 159th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 131
Circle this one: Sataoa Laumea at slot 173 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Trey Knox · TE · rank 223
They robbed the room for Trey Knox here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
